In this edition of the MXstore Privateer Spotlight we catch up with MX2 athlete from Cairs/Townsville Richard Evans.

Read the interview below & watch the short film to learn more about Richie as he takes on the Motul MX Nationals in 2016.

MXstore: Tell us a bit about who you are and what your goals are for the coming season.

Richard: My name is Richard Evans, I’m from Cairns but now I live in Townsville; which is in the northern part of Queensland. I currently study at university to be a school teacher and I’m just here to get experience and have some fun. I don’t know how much longer I’ll be able to do this for so I'm taking the opportunity to be able to do it while I can.

MXstore: Do you have any goals for the race season?

Richard: I’ve been aiming for top 10’s at the first couple of rounds and i did achieve that, but now I’m wanting top 5’s. It may seem a little bit shortsighted of me to say that but I personally believe i can achieve it and I’m just starting to feel comfortable.

MXstore: What does your weekly routine involve?

Richard: My weekly routine typically involves full days at university on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. I usually play touch football after uni on Monday so I really enjoy that! Wednesdays I get to go for either a run, cycle or trail ride out behind the university. It’s really hard to get a ride in on my dirtbike during the week because I live so far away from home. So on the weekends I travel back home and head out for a ride or race with my family.

MXstore: Is there anything in particular that you would like to get out of racing the MX Nationals?

Richard: Everyone says that they want a factory ride and that would be the ultimate goal, but at the moment what i want to get out of racing is just the enjoyment of doing it. One day I won’t be able to do this so I’ve just got to make the most out of it while it lasts and if it doesn’t last then at least I’ve given it everything I’ve got. So basically I’m just trying to get some self fulfilment.

MXstore: Is there anyone you would like to thank?

Richard: I want to give a big thanks to my Mum, Dad, Brother, Sister, Auntie and Uncle. I can never find words to explain how much they have done for me and how grateful i am for it. I’d also like to thank Yamaha Queensland and Nasty One Clothing for supporting me this year.
