5 TIPS FOR A BREEZY WEEKEND
- Bike Prep - Before heading off for your weekend, thoroughly inspect your Pre-95 vintage dirt bike and ensure your routine maintenance is up to date. Get everything done early so you can get parts ordered with time to spare; change engine oil and filter, clean and/or replace air filter, grease and lube moving parts, and give the bike a check-over front to rear, tightening bolts, chain tension, and spokes. And remember, if you want to hit the grass track you'll need to run a trials tire on the rear!
- Pack Spares and Essentials - There are some necessities you should pack that you can't go riding without including fuel, tools, premix for those old 2-bangers, spares (e.g. spark plugs, levers, and tubes), a first aid kit, food, extra hydration, water, and snacks. If you don't feel like cooking, there are plenty of food and drink options available onsite.
- Camping gear - Whether you are camping in a swag, caravan, or tent, be sure to pack warm because it gets cold in Conondale! You'll be extra warm if you pack your own off-ground fire pit for the evenings and don't forget firewood!
- Safety Gear - should always come first! Wear an MA-approved helmet, goggles, gloves, long-sleeve jersey and pants, and a set of motocross boots. Consider wearing body armour for added protection and if you're planning on riding the grass track you'll need a back protector as per MA dirt track requirements, with coverage from the collar line to the base of the spine.
- Have fun! The Conondale Classic Weekend is not a race, it's a recreational event all about having fun on your dirt bike, so cut as many laps as you like, encourage your fellow riders, and enjoy some of the best tracks in Australia!
