Battle In The Bush 2024 Weekend Wrap Up
Back for 2024
We were excited to be back at the iconic Green Park Conondale for Battle in the Bush 2024! Saturday kicked off with the SBS Brake Test, Pod Rut Limbo, MiniRacer Pit Bike Challenge, and Maxima Dirt Drags as an opportunity to get on the bike before Sunday racing, have fun, and excercise some friendly competition with your mates. At gate drop on the SBS brake test it's full gas, racing against the clock to the end of the straight. This is a test of skill and technique, execute the perfect race start then get hard on the brakes and come to a complete stop in the designated area, James Alen had the braking power to take out the SBS Brake Test. Over to the Pod Rut Limbo where riders see how low they can go, Toby Stevens was crowned victorious and walks away with a new set of K4 knee braces. Pit bikes always make for a good time and a bit of a laugh, the MiniRacer Pit Bike Challege was no different. We had 5 teams step up to the task on what was a challenging track for the under-powered bikes, 1st place goes to Mark Hewlett and Rowan Samin, in 2nd was Toby Stevens and Andrew Spence, and rounding out the podium in 3rd place was Shaun Brunton and Wade Gray. Maxima Dirt Drags were a crowd favourite as riders of all abilities on an asortment of machines lined up to take each other on in the name of good times.

Farm Bike Cup
Joey Shep, Justyn Roth, and Scott Alexander were the three front runners in the Farm Bike Cup, but Joey managed to score himself the Pirelli holeshot and both race wins on the day. Justyn Roth put an impressive lap down in race 1, his time of 3:21.262 held up at 3 seconds faster after moto 2. These bikes are definitely not made for a National spec motocross track, so it was pretty gnarly for the riders. Justyn Roth snapped his shock in his first race and had to quickly replace it before the second race! Overall it was awesome to launch the Farm Bike Cup and we can't wait to take it to more tracks better suited to these old bikes in the future.
Chick Chase
With a bunch of last minute entries, we were stoked to see a full-looking startline of 17 girls lined up for the Chick Chase. Alysha Goullet showed us how it's done as she rode her Honda CRF250R to victory in both motos, also clinching two Pirelli holeshots along the way. Abbey Morrice, Jemma Wilson, and Tamara Gray battled for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. It was the first ever gate drop for most of the field which is our biggest take away from this class, we hope this has planted a seed for the girls and they'll be lining up for more races in the future and back for Battle In The Bush 2025!
Pre-Mid2k
23 riders lined up for the Pre-Mid2K, all rockin their 2006 and older bikes. The assortment of 2-bangers, thumpers, 125s and XR600s made for a smokey startline that roared when the gates dropped. Zak Brown was on fire with an unstoppable performance that saw him take the Pirelli holeshot and stretch the lead on his 1994 CR500. Tomas Kruger finished the race in second and Scott Richardson followed in third. It's clear that this class has some interest, we hope to run another Pre-Mid2K and can't wait to see everyone again!

3 Hour Relay
The Le Mans style start keeps things interesting, 40 bikes are packed in tight so it's chaos if you aren't up the front, Elijah Wiese took us into the first corner to grab the Pirelli holeshot. Clouds of dust formed quickly, but the track held up well to make for some good racing. The race remained tight throughout the 3 hours with the top spot bouncing between what would be our top four teams; Maxima, Festy Filipinos, Team Ramrod, and Jake's Last Ride (the only team of two in this mix). See the standings as the checkered flag came out:
