Whilst all the bikes are sensational my biased opinion having owned, raced and now building my own collection of RMs Is that it will win.
Great work by all the boys on the builds and thank you MX Store for not only putting a great series together but also what you give back to the sport. I hope to see more of these bike build competitions in the future, perhaps even a fan build off would be awesome.
We truly appreciate your kind words, Ron!
We are stoked to hear how passionate you are about the RM and that you have been building your own at home. Make sure to #wreckerstocheckers on social media as we would love to check out your build. :)

Carpy23
Straight on the old girl 2stroke KX250!
Owned, Raced, Built and come off many KX 2Strokes from the KX60 & 65 rite up to the machine itself the KX500 amazing bikes all round for wrk or play.
Dylan has done a killa job keepin a nice neat but standout look to the old girl. Be nice to hav this bike sittin up in the shed ready to take out and ride with my son some day.
Rm250
The rm will win! I rode it on one of its last rides before MXSTORE got it and can only imagine the difference between them and now!
Hi Rory,
We think it's so epic that you got a chance to ride the RM before it was rebuilt!
If you are local to us, make sure to come and check out the bike in person at our Show & Shine on the 27th of August here at MXstore Burleigh Heads. :)
All the best!
Bring on the smoke!
Definitely the KX for me I love old two strokes especially Kawasaki's and these bike are awesome machines, super quick with nimble handling. Just hope Dylan can handle that power!!!
I guess we will find out soon!! Do you think he can? :)
Team green all the way
Kx for the win
Dylan’s KX
The thing is just clean and immaculate upon finishing. I reckon it will sound good as well. So Dylan for the win
Wow, wasn't expecting this ?
Not what I was expecting. I was thinking, easy decision for my vote at start. I have been watching all the episodes as soon as they have been released. I'm a two stroke man thru & thru but was so close to jumping ship. Great job guys. I left the vote to my girls as I couldn't make a decision, way to hard to pick. I have my own resto happening at the moment YZ250 2000 and MXStore have been helping me with the parts I need. If MXStore don't have it listed doesn't mean they can't get it. They are still helping me with my hard to get parts. I wanted a black tank for stock look but all blue parts to black. No probs, It was delivered to me alot faster than I was expecting.
Thankyou MXStore.
Hi Dean,
We truly appreciate your epic feedback!
With all of the bikes turning out like they did, it sure is hard to pick a favourite.
We would love to see your build! Make sure to #wreckerstocheckers on socials so we can check out your ride!
I am stoked to hear that the team has been able to help you track down parts for your YZ, we are here if you need us as you progress. :)
All the best legend!
Honda give you wings.
Honda all the way. Nigel is so cool and calm and done such an awesome job on the build. I have 3 Honda’s in my shed. Cr 125 ‘1996, cr250 ‘2004, crf 70 ‘2011. Honda is my vote for the win.
KX Hulk
My favorite is the KX250 because it’s a lean, mean, green and a beast of a machine with the tenacity to take down team Read and Yellow!
HURLEY REP SUZUKI
MICMAC Hurley rep bike gets the win
KX250
I’m just waiting on a JSV pipe for my KX build, I just love the KX 250 build, it’s awesome what the boys have done to all the bikes
Stoked to hear that you are working on your own build, Rick!
Make sure to #wreckerstocheckers on social media as we would love to see your progress.
RM FOR THE WIN
The kx will look flawless..... from 30 meters or more.. the crf isnt much different from most bikes on the track now.
However the the rm has the 2 stroke retro vibe, the build has been done with attention to detail and it has the s*x appeal of pammy anderson running down the beach in the 90's
Definitely, the most creative explanation of the RM build!
Kx 250
Has to be the kx. Few minor things throw me off but best bike of the lot. Currently rebuilding an 03 myself. Along with the 98 it was one of the best 250 kx motors built. Would be hard to get that rm to handle like the kx i had the same that i recently sold.
Hi Lachlan,
We are stoked to hear that you are enjoying the series and have your own build happening at home!
Make sure to #wreckerstocheckers on socials as we would love to check out your ride. :)
Best of luck legend!
Kawasaki
The Kawasaki was building the build for me until I seen two horrendous crimes committed.
Fitting renthal grips to odi bars- can't go mixing brands when it comes to things like that.
Refitting the horrible condition raditors- could of spent a bit of time repairing damaged fins and a bit of a clean up.
Honda for the win now.
Crf for the win
Since I saw the first video, I was on the hunt for dirt bike, up to ep8 I decided to buy a crf450x because it's had the least amount of problems and all the work has been done is dressing it up. Shows the reliability of Honda.
We are stoked to hear that you are loving the series, Ben!
We would love to see what you are doing with your CRF, make sure to #wreckerstocheckers on social media.
Kx
Love the kx250, so many memories, my first was a 91 125, then 94 250. God I wish I still had those bikes!
2 Smoker Love
I'd like to say that the RM250 will kick ass and sound sweet but in reality that CRF450R is gunna come in as the hottest contender and be tough to beat
Love the Rm
Love the build, look forward to every episode that comes out
Love ya work.
I can't wait to see the next episode so hurry up I'm checking in every day.
Mic Mac for the “w”
I can still smell the 2 stroke fumes from the Sydney super dome from 05, Hurley had a cracker year both mx and sx, a lot of good memories from that era, and the team Suzuki bikes always looked so fresh. Cannot wait to see the finished product, I feel mic Mac will run away with haha, hats of to you guys I look forward to each episode of wreckers to checkers. Braaaaapppp
sick
my dream is winning
Riding bikes make my heart smile
COUNTRY BOY. Bikes always on my mind. CT 90 first bike no brakes no PC then sink or swim. Club racing motorcross before hair on my johnson. Ridden all the major brands. Love them all. Suzuki RMs always had the FEEL. That makes me smile
Over Confident leads to Over Budget Budget
My friends did something similar to this in 1996, My friends and I used to go to all the 2 day rides out near Dalby in Qld "Thanks Craig Hartley" You are a legend! In 1996. Six of our group formulated a plan to do a $500 challenge. You could buy any bike up to $500 and you could spend $200 making it safe and reliable. It had to be done in time for the Bell trail ride through the Bunya Mountains. Every $10 over budget was a 1 minute penalty start time. So I have had experience with trying to keep to a budget. My brother Gary found a brilliant 83 XR 250, in as what looks like the same condition as the CRF Honda in your competition, he paid $500 for the bike and put new brake pads, New front tyres front and rear, and he was good to go. I got my self an old 73 Elsinor 250 with the silver and green tank, it was rough (ripped seat) dented tank, but is was $375 and the guy just spent $400 mechanically, on it doing piston and ring kit and new brakes, chain and sprockets. I put new tyres front and rear and put new fork seals in it. It didn't look pretty so I was considered the underdog. From memory there were 2 Yamaha IT's 1 x 200 and a 175, a Ct Honda postie bike, And 1 Honda Bushlander 100cc year unknown. We all arrange a break in ride, 2 weeks prior at Spring Mountain ( Now Developed ) Well we all went well except the tall Poppy Gary, whose XR blew out a head gasket and stopped. Well there was so much wrong with great new looking bike when my brother broke down the the engine, he ended spending $580 on parts just to get it running again.
This the reason I am picking the CRF 450, I think spending your budget making it look pretty and then if something mechanical goes wrong, it is going to hurt the budget.
Just so you know Who won our little Bell challenge, well My brother Gary was out on day one with mechanical gremlins on the 83 XR 250, Squizzy was the fastest finisher on day one on his IT 200, but he was always the quick one, I came in second on the Elsinor 250, My bike was by far the fastest Ray came in 3rd on his IT 175, Pete came in a close 4th on his postie bike, and Victor on the Honda bush lander 100 made it back before dark. Garry was a DNF on the XR 25O, Also and it rained hard all day.
Day 2. It was drizzling still, all our gear was wet but our spirits were high and were all keen to go, Gary was on his near new XR 400 for day 2 as our sweep rider. I re gaffa taped my seat back up with several layers and I was good to go.
Day 2 was a bit more open, we let Victor go with a 10 minute lead on the what we were calling the Bush Pig at that stage, then Pete on the Postman special, 5 mins gap then Lightning Ray on the IT 175, Net after a 2 minute delay I was away on Elsie (no prize for guessing how that nick name came to be! ) Then 1 minute Squizzy and Garry were on the chase.
End result Squizzy hunted us all down and said???? He was back 15 minutes before me who came in second place, 3rd place was surprising it was the bush pig CB 100 of Victor, Ray got stuck on a hard hill rated as a 3, the rule was all hills less than a 4 we had to do. So he was beaten to 4th place by the flying Postman. Ray finish an honourable 5th. It was so much fun, I had Elsie for 4 years after that. I wish I never sold her.
I hope this has at least entertained you for a few minutes. Weather I win or not, I had fun reminiscing about Glory Days!.
Nigel Crisp.
Hi Nigel,
We are SO stoked to hear your story and how you and a group of friends worked on your very own project bikes!
It's amazing how many parts may need a bit of extra TLC once you start stripping the bike back.
It's great that once you and your friends rebuilt the bikes that you were able to get out there and put them to the test. Although it rained, it sounds like you all had a tonne of fun!
If you have any photos from your builds, we would love to see them!
If you would like to share your past projects, you can #wreckerstocheckers on social media. :)
Wishing you all the best legend and cheers for all of your support!
Dylan's kx
Dylan will be smashing way over budget in that little green money Pit! That crf 450 is coming in for the win!!
Kx250 rear steer
Definitely the kx250 As a young racer Always dreamed of this model in 2002-2003 a mate had one steer from the rear she was
Red WORRIOR 250
I have a awesome bike worrior 250cc an man what a bike it goes hard an I love it but it would be so cool to make over....
$$ KX 250 $$
Dylan's KX will definitely go over budget. Needs more than a touch up for sure
The boys certainly didn't do a very good job of sticking to the budget, but how epic do the bikes look now?
$uzuki will go over budget!
But all three will be amazing by the end!!
Kawasaki needs a ground up refresh..
Dylan is definitely going to blow the 6k budget, that kawasaki is rough and needs more than just some extra paint on the frame
KX Legend
Love the old KX most easey bike to work on and ride >
Mean and Green
The smell of a two banger in the morning is enough to get anyone’s blood pumping. Can’t wait to hear that thing being pinned and throwing roost like a boss:)
Get excited Craig because it won't be long now until you get to see these bikes in action!
Ride red get ahead
CRF 450 "08" golden age of 450cc till this day still the best 450 motocross bike ever built, how do I know? I Owned one & ride it, like I stole it.
CRF450
The old crf was a weapon of a bike. Funny that Kawasaki are now trying to rip off old Honda tech. One day the jap bikes will catch up to euro stuff.
Kx 250
The old kx 250 definitely my favourite love the old bikes and and love 2 strokes. The old kxs haul ass and are a real good reliable bike. I can’t wait too see the finished product it’s gona look sick.
110
I really want to win because I’m trying to build my crf110 up
